I found this video to be both intriguing and challenging.
The video states that our current education system is modeled after the current interests of industrialization. Hence, the importance of standardization has grown significantly. The speaker in the video believes that we should not be trying to compare people, but rather bringing the best out of an individual. Each individual has different strengths and function in different ways. So how does one compare individuals? The speaker suggests that society needs to understand that the best form of learning is done in groups and that collaboration is one of the best ways to learn.
Though there are perks and drawbacks to both student centered education and standardized education, I can’t help but wonder… is standardization hindering the creative mind?
